Welcome!
You're probably wondering what this board is about.
ScotlAnime came about after a certain individual (*ahem*) decided it'd be fun to join Meetup.com.. "Awesome!" I thought, "I can finally meet some other local people who are into anime!"
Wrong. I finally sign up and work out how to use the damn thing, and start to create my own meet-up group when... BAM, suddenly it's asking me to cough up the dough. Which, I may add, anime fans do NOT have as we whittle it all away on imported anime dvds, over-priced tokyopop manga and the like.
So I thought, "Well, this blows. What am I going to do now?"
I scrolled through the long list of members on Meetup.com- I wondered if any of them would bother to create a meet up group other than the pre-existing Japanese Culture group. Probably not.
Well, what could I do? I sat around, pouted a bit, glared at Meetup.com and then started to pout over how there's a serious lack of anime forums for Scotland. Glasgow Anime and Auchinawa have forums, but they really aren't active enough...
I went back and looked through the list of names and locations on Meetup.com again- not all of the members were from Glasgow, there were members from all over Scotland. And so I started to think, what if everyone collected on the same board? Surely that would stay active.
I thought about it a bit more- thought, "Nahh, what can I do? I couldn't host a forum and actually have it ACTIVE."
But then I realised- SOMEONE'S got to do it.
....as long as it's free.
Soooo I went over to proboards, a long lost childhood friend of mine, and started one up- this one. Voila.
I hope you liked my story. ;D
